Rant about Vodafone Fiber

So almost two weeks ago i received the ftth fiber from vodafone ad the vodafone station 6. From the very start i noticed something was wrong: 1) It's only a fiber if it's with the cable (otherwise it's around 300mb download only if i stay close because if i distance myself it goes back to 100 or even lower); 2) as mentioned in the last part of the first point, the signal is really tremendous, even though i followed every step as to how to place it correctly; 3) high latency (40ms) even with or without cable, it doesn't sound high but of course it's not the same latency thst i see in games, which is of course higher. Should i change isp??

Unfortunately this forum is for UK customers so we really can't help much. Worse is I can't find a dedicated vodafone forum in Italy.

I can only find one avenue of help for you

Sorry is this a test?  You cannot use the Vodafone PowerStation 6 with an FTTH (G.Fast) connection since it doesn't have a socket for the phone-line in!  The PowerStation 6 would need a separate modem, ONT, or GPON in order to function!

I've never heard of GFast described as FTTH, it's still FTTC.

G.Fast is generally Fibre To The Hub though if you are very close to the cabinet, that could contain your Hub!  The Hubs in general are (mostly were) smallish devices that can be mounted on telegraph poles or inside manholes and serve only a few customers, with the average run from Hub to premisis being less than 50m!  Moving the equipment that takes the fibre connection to a device that is closer to the premisis is one of the means of dramatically increasing the bandwidth you can get from a phone line connection.  It's rather been killed off by the fact that its slower than FTTP, isn't substantially cheaper, and the equipment has a higher failure rate.

I'd not heard of GFast hubs being fitted to poles or manholes. The GFast equipment is usually attached to the cabinet or very close by. (It would need multiple wired connections)

The acronym FTTH is Fibre to the Home and is often used as synonymous with FTTP.

All very obsolete now as GFast is no longer being installed. Vodafone don't (AFAIK) offer it.
