Replacing my Vodafone hub

Hi all. I’m new around here. My broadband went live yesterday, and so far so good. I’m slightly unimpressed with the speed over WiFi, though. I’ve got the 500Mbps service, and it tops out at around 375Mbps. Wired is fine. Has anyone swapped out their Vodafone hub for something else and, if so, which make and model would you recommend? I’ll get a 6E one if possible, for some future-proofing. I don’t really want multiple boxes in the corner, so would just rather swap the Vodafone hub out for another router, rather than faffing about with bridging and all that. Any tips will be appreciated.

With wifi7 just around the corner 6e is going to die a quick death,so I'd hold on a while.

In the meantime see if you can find a deal on a refurbished wifi6 router. My preferences are Asus, Netgear and Tp-link in that order. Best most capable new router is the Asus GT-AX6000.

Remember there is little point to 6E if you don't have the client devices that will use it, or if you don't need to use it (ie if your existing 5GHz channel space is not already crammed with competing networks).  WiFi 7 when it arrives will bring it's own issues, since unlike *WiFi 3* to WiFi 6 it doesn't look like it shares it's channels nicely with devices on differing WiFi levels.

*If you look back at the older WiFi specs, they kinda share channels, it's just that they can have more impact on all connected devices.

Just remember that any wireless technology which includes the number 5 will result in protestors outside your address complaining about electro-magnetic induced mystery illnesses which have no scientific basis 😂
