VF and Open Reach were on the TV, BBC 1 "The One Show" at 7pm today. They were the first item. Let's just say that they didn't cover themselves in glory.

Watchit it now. Yes, vodafone were mentioned at the beginning but the whole item us focused on openreach.

I saw the article and after yesterday's fiasco I agreed - although in my case I have only praise for the Openreach engineer, who actually told me that the Vodafone router I had would never work on FTTP and that they had clearly 'forgotton' to send replacements.

Just what Vodafone router did you have, that "would never work on FTTP"?

And how did you/the Openreach engineer overcome the problem?

The router I have was supplied with our Fibre 1 agreement taken out 2 years ago (although I think this may be a replacement a little younger).  The router worked fine over FTTC - although I only connected it when there seemed to be a problem with the line so that Vodafone could check it.   I am not certaiin, but I think the Openreach engineer might have meant that the lack of a tel port would mean that it was incompatible with having an FTTP landline.    The result was a long chjat session with Vodafone when I finally found someone who authorised sending relacement kit. This has still not arrived, so at the moment we have no broadband although they have temporarily left the landline on FTTC.

Vodafone have been using the THG3000 for over 3 years, and it definitely has the TEL ports. What they are (supposedly) sending you will probably be a THG3000. (unless you are on Pro II)

I believe even the previous HHG2500 had telephone ports, but they were "stickered" over.

So I think the Openreach engineer was completely wrong. (about so many things)

If you do have the THG3000, and I suspect you do, have you actually tried it?

You will need to connect to the ONT with an RJ45 Ethernet cable, and connect into the Wan port on the router. Giving the router a factory reset may help in ensuring it gets the correct configuration.
