Spent past 3 weeks on the phone to customer care to resolve slow speeds in the evening and 1 room in house getting intermittent wifi and buffering when streaming which I didn't have with Sky - wish i had read the comments on here before I moved over to vodafone who says there's nothing wrong and I juts have a dead zone in the house and to try a booster. Can anyone recommend a booster thats worked for them.

Hey there @JenBirrell - I understand how important it is to have a stable connection and we'd like to get this sorted for you. So that we can look a little further into the issues you're having could you confirm the following please?

- Are you experiencing the slow speeds over wired and wireless devices?

- Are you connected to the test socket?

- When you have spoke with our customer service teams did they advise of any known issues on your line?

If you would like to us check this for you instead, could you please drop us a message on social media? When doing so please make sure to include a link back your forum post and your landline/account number.

I have spent the best  part of almost 3 weeks on to your tech dept discussing the issue of slow downloads - over an hour to download a 30 min Prog, Vodafone app losing connection and buffering again last night on I player. They have run tests and diagnostics and say there is nothing wrong with the connection. Yet I had none of this with my Sky Broadband. Having just moved to Vodafone broadband I’m really disappointed and like others all of whom are having the same issue with your (not very good) router I now can’t wait for two years to be out of this broadband contract and get a decent connection, full coverage abd good download speed that I had before with Sky.

Go into the router configuration in the wifi setup section and split the SSID's into a 2.4Ghz network and a 5Ghz network. Then connect on the 5Ghz connection as it has a lot more bandwidth. Using 2.4Ghz will give you a longer range, but less bandwidth and speed. On a 5Ghz network it has less range, but is a lot faster because it has a lot more bandwidth. The Vodafone routers are very good, but they need configuring correctly to get the best out of them. If you can't do this find a friend who is knowledgeable to help you reconfigure the router.

Also make sure the router is not broadcasting on the same frequencies as your neighbours, because that can also affect the amount of bandwidth there is. To solve this problem you change the channels the wifi is broadcasting on.

It seems to me it's purely a wifi issue and not your incoming internet connection.

Done that already. Still have same problems with that one room which I never had with Sky.....

You cannot change WiFi channel numbers on the THG3000 router unless you get an earlier version of the Android App. The current router firmware and Android App have been "fixed" by VF to stop the user from being able to make channel changes. If you search the forum you will find instructions for obtaining the older Android App.

Yes and the person that came up with the solution was me, scroll down to find my instructions at 5/8/2021 at 1:44pm here:-

It has been discussed for quite a while, but any addition is always welcome.

@JenBirrell

You say you never had the same problems with Sky, but do/did you have Sky Q with the Sky Q router?

I ask because the Sky system uses the Sky boxes as mesh nodes. I also believe they use the 5Ghz channel when working with their own router but use the 2.4Ghz with 3rd party routers.

Of course if you didn't/don't have Sky Q it's got nothing to do with it.

Hi

yes have a sky Q box and yes had a sky router until I moved to Vodafone…..
