I am on Vodafone fibre so just under a year and no problems getting 10mbps but over the last 5 days I am getting terrible performance on YouTube on wifi on all devices. It either buffers, doesn’t play video and occasionally I get a period of a few minutes with no problems.
I have rebooted router and reset firmware and spoke to Vodafone but no solution. If I connect to mobile data all is good, and all other streaming video sites work fantastic and my wifi speed is always good. Any ideas?

I noticed the problem with many videos on YouTube spinning before they would play (and seek) about a week ago. It was across all Android, iOS, and Windows devices in the house connected when connected to Wi-Fi. I tried rebooting my network equipment but that didn't improve anything. A few days later I noticed Google Play was struggling/failing to update Android devices.
I think the YouTube issue has improved a bit, there's less spinning but still more than there should be. The spinning tends to be accompanied by ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT errors in the Chrome developer tools console. Videos that play instantly don't have the above error in the console.
I've noticed no other problems with any other services all week. My best guess is that it's a problem with Vodafone peering with Google's CDN for YouTube/Google Play, although I don't have the time or inclination to investigate any further.
How do we get Vodafone to fix it?
Rob
(I'm in Gloucestershire, but that probably doesn't matter.)

@Bethposted a couple of pages back suggesting it's raised with their social media team.
I'd suggest you join us in doing that to bring more attention to it 👍🏻

I've seen a few people saying they're using a third party router and Vodafone support suspects that this may be the cause of the issue. I just want to clarify that I'm using the Vodafone-supplied router and aside from WiFi SSID and password it is configured with out-of-the-box settings.

This may be as far as I can go with support if they absolutely need a Vodafone router for troubleshooting this issue. I really don't understand why they would with how much detail I tried to give them but there we are.
Is anybody else who is using a Vodafone router able to reach out to them?

Yes, I will but not until next week unfortunately as I'm travelling until then. Will watch this thread with interest until then.
Might have some contacts with Voda corporate network team through work too - if so, I'll try to see if the problem can be reproduced elsewhere which might help escalate things.

.@daern Please be careful with what that ask for to identify you. When I had a problem they wanted so much information I went to the Information Commissioner's Office (https://ico.org.uk/) for advice. The ICO told me not to answer them. In the end VF contacted me by telephone from a UK office.

I have a stock router and it's happening to me too. Nice try, Voda...

I've been pondering this problem for a while, and I think a Google CDN (content delivery network) has gone down somewhere on the Vodafone network. (or Vodafone's links to it.) @rd4242 actually came up with the possibly a while ago. Any of you who are in contact with support may like to suggest it. (not that they will understand, but they may pass it on)

@Gemma Why are my posts being deleted without warning?

Got some testing to do but it also seems a Sony TV based around the Google IS is also running into some issues, might just be coincidence.
