On CityFibre 900 and speeds are near unusable. Switched to the mobile dongle and they were even worse.
What is going on?

I've been on IDNet for a week now, and haven't dropped a single packet since. I went on a massive gaming binge, it's been great.
IDNet's gateway being in London hasn't mattered at all. My mate's with Sky (in Aberdeen, FTTP) and his gateway is in Edinburgh, and we were both playing in the same game at the weekend - his in-game ping was 37, mine was 32.
It's the customer support that matters though; in the future, I'm willing to pay more for any service to speak to someone local, competent, and with the power to address issues.

Yes that is the clear issue with Vodafone, their support just don't listen and have a book of excuses to throw you off. Blaming City fibre is the best one when they clearly know they are packet shaping to deal with the over subscription. A disgrace really.

Oh and on that note specifically for Aberdeen the concierge guy [Removed] in the Aberdeen store is an [Removed]. customer service skills absolutely zero.

OK, moved to Zen today on the 500mb package, done several speed tests since 6pm and every one just over 500mbps. So the issue is clearly Vodafone not City Fibre or capacity in the cabinets. Mystery solved.

Mine has been fine since the new router was installed even tho i don't think it was anything to do with the router.
I'm now being routed through Glasgow,Manchester etc.All the slowdowns i had were when i was routed through Fraserburgh of all places.Completely agree about the customer service it's horrendous trying to understand the mangled english they use.

My speeds have been fine since I installed Cloudflaire Warp just a little app that routes your traffic(encrypted I think) through their DNS servers, My speeds have been fine.
