On CityFibre 900 and speeds are near unusable. Switched to the mobile dongle and they were even worse.

What is going on?

Vodafone know what's happening and why. They just choose not to acknowledge it publicly.

I phoned Vodafone yesterday to report the fault, yet again, and was told "There's nothing wrong with your internet connection.", but we will call back later in the evening to check your reported fault - they never called back. My contract is up in less than 3 months and Vodafone say it will cost just a little over £40 to exit early, so I'm gonna give Zen a call latter today and move over to them, they cost a little more than Vodafone but I'm hoping to get a better service from them. No point in posting images here as they never seem to get through so hope this link works (if links are allowed), it shows (up to) 20% packet loss starting at about 5pm continuing on to around 12pm, this coincides with the drop in speed. I hope this link to the screenshot works, it shows the packet loss and an odd jump in latency at around 00:30 hours today. https://mega.nz/file/1t0ARRZA#xzZ6YJlq37tKmT-dkTr5n4LAzVxQ2bUN_Ggnfrf24Oc

I just woke up to this email from them:

Hello. Thank you for reporting the fault you're experiencing with your Vodafone Broadband.

We've identified an issue which may be occasionally affecting your broadband speed and we're sorry about this.  To put things right, we’re planning on making some changes to our network and we’ll notify you once this work has been done.

If you have any questions or anything has changed, Please call us free on 0808 0057320, quoting reference number NETXXXXX

Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this.

Many Thanks

That's pretty much what Vodafone said to me the last 2 times "..making some changes to our network..", I don't think the changes get done properly. I've called Zen and will be connected to them on the 24th of this month. Fingers crossed it will all be better - shall let you all know if it is.

BTW Comparethemarket are giving an £80 Amazon voucher if you switch through them, when I mentioned this to Zen they said they will give me the voucher, it'll help offset the Vodafone early cancellation fee.

Cheers for the heads-up! I have more than a year left so the costs are fairly crazy. My Plan A atm is building up the evidence pack to try to get out of it free. It's hard to know what would suffice though - guy on the phone today said something like "It would have to be less than 10 meg for 30 days straight" or something along those lines. Maybe depends on who you get in the cancellation department.

My connection looks identical to that last night, right up to the brief disconnection at 00:30 and a switch to an English gateway.

Please do let us know how things are with Zen when you go, wish I could join you!

I've had a fair few days of unusable packet loss in the evening again. Same for you guys?

Yep, down to less than 5mb download speeds tonight.

Yup, crap all day here after only being crap in the evenings all week. 10-15% ping loss at the moment.
Transfer out to Zen on the 3rd, yet tech support today still insisted on sending me a new router... Even offered to try a spare FritzBox I have here before they sent it.

For sale: Brand new VF router, unopened. Available as soon as DPD deliver it.

Ah man. Please do let us know how things are when you switch over to Zen. If you are with them a couple of weeks with no issues, I'll bite the bullet
