Full fiber 900

Having just had full fiber installed , Speeds have been all over the place . Reported it , told to wait awhile , probably to go past the 14 day cooling off period . Sometimes the Upload is 700 and download 100 , it peaks and troughs regularly.

After many calls and the purchase of a long netowrk cable it seems to of gotten a bit better but with a wired connection only direct from router to desktop 700/700 ish . But i want to use Wifi .

Speed standing by the Router on a  mobile is 80MBPS and less 25 feet up  stairs to the desktop is low 30,s:-( . with a low upload . is this normal. they say they dont give any guarantee but it will be obstructions and other devices to blame.... there arnt any!

Ive been offered a free Range extender but I just wasnt a decent speed for what is advertised . And the speeds deteriorate in the evenings . im not impressed . My BT Fibre with 70 MBPS was more stable and reliable .

Any advice appreciated !

@Foreteewinks Don't go closer to the router (or other WiFi beacon) than about 6ft (2m) testing WiFi as that can sometimes overload the radio in the portable device.

It's bit difficult to follows some of you comments, for instance:

I have just tested the Mobile Speed test next to my desktop and im getting  5 mbps download and 7 upload  with a 500 Ping !. Its appalling / the speeds fluctaute wildly especially during the evening .

What does being next to the desktop have to do with a mobile speed test, as presumably that is Wi-Fi to the router.

Unless you are saying the PL adapters you are using have a Wi-Fi access point in them.

Could the mobile be routing over 4G in preference to WiFi?

Mobile is set to Wifi .

Can anyone provide me with what Wifi signal/ Speed they are getting on a mobile device standing very near to the router ? 900 full fiber package.

Thanks

@Foreteewinks

The WiFi speed goes down if you are very close to the router, e.g. less than 6ft/2m.

I am just thinking out loud . My desktop is situated 25 feet away from the router up some stairs just an open doorway no walls obstructing the signal.

Standing next to or 6 feet away from the router I am getting 80mbps strangth both Dwnld/upload on an iphone Mobile Wifi signal .

I guess I am asking is this normal speed via Wifi for a 900 full Fiber contract ?

The wired strength ie from router to desktop via newtwork cable is where it should be.

thanks
