Low performance device

I am new to Vodafone and trying to improve the WiFi performance of my connected devices. In the app I see that, under Wi-Fi Performance, most devices are rated as Low Performance, including my new top-of-the-range laptop. I've looked in Windows Wi-Fi settings and in the Vodafone help, but I can't see a way of increasing this, either from the device end or the Vodafone app/router end. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

@katieb829  This sounds promising.

On 2.4GHz a lot of devices default to channel 1, 6 or 11, so if there is a channel with nobody on it may be useful to move there.

On 5GHz it's much more "fun". Most devices are on a channel below 60. Assuming your devices can reach higher channels and you're not close to an airport it could be good to move. My 5GHz is on channel 64 and there's not a single neighbour clashing.

Actually, if you can tell me how to change channels I'd appreciate it. Reading the tutorials in the WiFi Analyser, I see that it does say that it would be better if I changed channels. I don't see how to do that through the app.

Unfortunately Vodafone have removed that option. There are ways around the restriction, such as using an old version of the app, but I wouldn't advise that.

True about the THG3000 router but the extender may be configurable, I am not sure of what manufacture it is.

I got the extender from Argos. It says TP-link on it. I've been into the app but don't see a way of changing channels, unfortunately.

TP-Link make a wide range of extenders, which model is it?

So what you have is a repeater, and while they are useful, a dumb repeater is going to give you a maximum of half the bandwidth of it or the router whatever is the slowest - and that's the best possible outcome (true Mesh systems are somewhat different).

When using a repeater you'll find the best position through trial and error.  You are basically looking to place it as far from the router as you can while maintaining the maximum sync speed between the two.

THG3000. routers are not good Vodafone need to change them they are no good at all and old now you will be better at getting your own router

Whilst I don't disagree about getting your own router, most people just want something they can plug in and use, and (most of the time) the THG3000 provides that.

Also now that all new users are on digital voice, using your own router is not so easy, if you want the phone service.

But yes, it would be nice to get something newer
