Slow speeds

I have been having very slow download speed for the last couple of days - about 0.7Mbps last night and 2Mbps today. I checked my sync speed on the app and it shows as 3.1Mbps. My contract summary shows a minimum guaranteed download speed of 16.4Mbps and a max of 34.9Mbps.

Why has my sync speed suddenly dropped to a tenth of what I signed up to 7 months ago?

@Jay44  What are the stats from the router? The router should show you the current speeds, possible max, number of errors and signal strength.

The speeds that you should be getting suggest that you are on a FTTC (copper wires to your home) version of broadband.

What score do you get from a wired connection to the router with this test? https://www.vodafone.co.uk/broadband/speed-test

Current Rate 3095 kbps 4294 kbps
Maximum Rate 19806 kbps 5674 kbps
Signal-to-Noise Ratio 24.4 dB 7.8 dB

No errors are reported.

I can't do a wired connection right now but could do one tonight if you think it will be different. Here's the results from wifi

0.8 Mbps
download speed guarantee

1 - 2.7 Mbps download speed

@Jay44  Yeuk. That looks poor. I wonder the recent rain has got in the wires somewhere between the cabinet and the house.

Anyway, try calling 0808 034 515 or the chat https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/

Other contact routes are in here https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/About-the-Community/Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries/td-p/263...

That huge SNR is why the speeds have dropped.

Why DLM would have set it that high is the question?

Have you made any changes to the connection at your end? Been disconnecting and reconnecting repeatedly?

But yes, contact Vodafone as suggested by @Cynric

Well I think for the last few weeks I have been getting disconnected ranodmly but get reconnected within a minute so it hasn't really affected me much and kind of ignored it. I have contacted vodafone who say they're doing tests over today.

That has probably upset DLM (Dynamic Line Management) and it has reduced your speed to try to keep the line stable.

Let's hope Vodafone find something and call Openreach out.
