Lots of conflicting info it seems. My fiancé and I both work from home. I do LOTS of video calls as my job is basically consulting. I’m on at least 2-5 video calls a day. Not a ton of downloading big files.
My fiancé is mostly admin type work via online portals.
We both use our phones on WiFi a lot. Lots of streaming on the TV. Light video gaming.
Some things indicate I need at LEAST 300-500 others say I’d be fine with 100 or even lower?
I’m trying to cut back some expenses and I pay $70/mo for 500mbps.
So, what speed would be good enough to where I just don’t have to think twice about it but not pay a ton?

@odhuk I did fine on 62 down / 20 up, but basically l'd suggest you look at the package costs as most speeds now exceed what you'll use.
Talking of price, you mentioned the costs in dollars, which country are you located in?

You'd probably get away with 100Mbps, but 250Mbps would give you more headroom and price-wise wise you may find that 500Mbps or 900Mbps is actually the sweet spot! This brings up the question: What is there in the package which has led you to pay $70/month (this is a UK forum mind) for your internet? If that's for a package that includes a mobile data backup device, it might just be better to more/unlimited data on at least one of your phones.
*Pricing in the UK is roughly mid-tier.

I have to agree with the above comments. I had 200Mb and could run several streams and some downloads without issue (yes, at the same time). The only reason I'm on 500Mb now is it was offered cheaper.
