Hello,
i currently have fibre 900 and the speeds via ethernet are great. However the wifi lends to dissapointment. I have a super wifi booster and the xbox that is connected to the booster does achieve speeds of 988mbps through ethernet, any wireless device fails to achieve anywhere near this. iPhones, Macbooks etc all have in the region of 300-570mbps max which is still impressive but i do wonder if there are limitations to the vodafone system compared to third party or rival companies. I do know that when im connected to a Virgin Media 900 wifi my phone does get the download speeds.
I am a pro customer and have spoken to wifi xperts who have updated the router and settings but then go on to tell me that it is down to interference yet my booster can deliver the correct download speed over wifi to my xbox!?
Anybody else have this issue? Is it a limitation with wifi5?
Ryan

Thank you all for the replies, upon looking at other threads it appears the best course of action would be to use a third party router

That's your choice. It's also the choice I made - and I don't regret it at all.

Hey… I have exactly the same problem as you.
did you get a third party router… and did it work. If so, which router did you get. Vodafone have offered to send me an extender… but I doubt this will make any difference

Hi, they eventually wrote my router off as faulty and sent me another useless THG3000. So i did get a third party router, the TPlink AX73 (AX5400) and the results are amazing, I now get the full speed downstairs and great speeds and coverage upstairs. Just got the PPPoE from the vodafone chat and within 5 minutes was good to go! This was on an iPhone 14 Pro

Thanks for your reply. I will probably get the same as Vodafone are still telling my router is fine. As I expected the booster they sent me has only increased the range of my wi-if, and not helped with the speed from my router.
I use Vodafone digital voice service for a landline, so I am assuming I will still need to use my Vodafone router for this. Turning off WiFi and connect the new TP-Link router via an Ethernet cable and use it as an access point.
Hopefully this will work 🤞

Yes, I had numerous updates and restarts to the hub, it is a shame that they provide existing customers which such poor equipment even when it fails, but it was like speaking to a brick wall!
the replacement they sent me was equally as poor, stood next to the device was only getting 500mbps max, so it is clearly a hardware limitation!

Yeah, I just signed a family member up for the slower Fibre 73, and they are being sent the new Power Hub with WiFi 6!

That is what I asked for and they said thats not possible, they stand by the fact the THG3000 is adequate which I think for most it is, but if im only getting 500mbps and not getting 900 then I shouldnt have upgraded. They only replace like for like. To be honest it took them 3 weeks to send a new hub out, the technical team are really reluctant to do it

Yeah I’m not holding much hope. They are due to call me tomorrow night to see if the booster has helped…. Which obviously it hasnt.
I may be wrong but I just can’t see how a wireless booster can increase the wireless speed that is coming from original router in the first place.
i said the same to them as you did , that I am getting the same speed as when I was on fibre 500, so I didn’t see the point of me upgrading and paying the extra.
Since you have mentioned TP-link, I’ve ‘gone down a rabbit hole’ and come across tp link deco x20 mesh WiFi…. I may end up tying that.
i think that because of my Vodafone digital ‘landline’ I am still going to have to utilise the THG3000 to some degree.
