Broadband super wifi

I’ve just recently set up my hub and connected my landline etc, all ok so far just two bars on my signal on my phone/ipad etc, but I live in a townhouse so I have a landline socket in the kitchen on the ground floor, everything is set up on the 1st floor broadband wise etc. but as I’m disabled I used a stairlift so now I have no landline on the ground floor in the kitchen, do I need to buy a router so I can put the landline into it, I chatted on line today and was told I have to buy an extra router, was never told this before this was all planned, do you think it’s worth ringing Vodafone explaining my situation of no landline on the ground floor now, it’s a new build so I have sockets on every floor, but my main use ones was the kitchen and living room. I’ve also got the booster behind my front door but that doesn’t work and I can no longer get any signal down in the kitchen to a phone/tablet etc. can anyone advise or help. Thanks.

If your broadband is supplied down the phone line then your phone extensions should still be working though you'd either need the latest filtering faceplate on the master socket or a filter on each phone socket.

That was true until recently, but new FTTC connection are using "digital voice" (i.e. VoIP),

We first need to confirm if @Alisbeanie is on FTTC (it sounds like they are), and then see if their master socket is currently in the kitchen.

@Alisbeanie, if you are on FTTC, it's only possible to have one router connected, (actually that is true if you are on FTTP as well)

We need to understand just what service you are on, and just what problem you believe you have,

@Jayach it’s a BT/openreach phone socket. I already have a DECT phone that is in the kitchen.

If you have a DECT phone in the kitchen, where is it's base station?

Unless you just have a single base station and phone, in which case you should be able to get additional handsets and move the base unit to the router.

Extenders. access points and boosters are for the Wi-Fi, nothing to do with the phone.

@Jayach  The base station is in the kitchen, sadly I don’t have additional handsets.

I think it was mentioned about an extender for the Wi-Fi signal to reach down into the kitchen/utility room as I have a booster down stairs, but when I was all set up with the new stuff the old booster was flashing red, now it’s a flashing white the light which I’m told is working and normal. Thank you.

@Jayach sorry forgot to say the router is upstairs with the landline connected to the router. It’s not the master socket, that is behind the front door not far from the kitchen. Thank you.

if I’d known about this I would never of went with the current plan I’m with now for 18 months. Thank you again.

Vodafone contracts are for 2 years, presumably you have only just joined, or have you had this problem for 6 months?

@Jayach  I was previously with Vodafone but went for a new plan for 18 months.
