Is it possible to reclaim my old landline number?

Hi im joining from Virgin media. I haven't had a landline service since at least October 2023 and had assumed the landline number is built into the cables etc. Is it possible to reclaim my old number? I believe it's not VoIP but a traditional landline as we had this landline number for 10+ years.

Thanks

Hi @Jaguare224 Thanks for your post! Since the number hasn't been used by yourself of over a year, it's not likely that we'll be able port it over. That being said there's no harm in asking our Activations team to confirm what can be done.  All our landline services are digital now too. Call the team on 03333 040191 and they'll talk you through the possible options.

Thank you!

Another question, i haven't joined just yet. Should i ask about this before or after joining?

I'd advise doing it before joining @Jaguare224 When you're ready to order, it'd be better give the Sales team a call. They can then check if they're able to process a number port as part of the order.

Hi i spoke on live chat and the agent said my landline number was available but that they didn't know how to process it online. I called them up now and they said they couldn't keep the number through one touch switch. Getting conflicting information i'm not sure which is true?

Through one touch switch, they would need to be able to identify you. If you haven't had the number for over a year, you have no chance.

It will need to be a manual switch, and Vodafone seem to be very poor at that.

Do you have a phone number with Virgin (even if you don't use it)?

Unfortunately not. I only have broadband with them, and only ever had landline + broadband before that. The online agent indicated that it is available. I wonder if it's possible to port once i have switched? Might be easier than doing it all in one go? I don't mind going without landline for a week.

With Vodafone the account seems to be based around the phone number, so no, it's unlikely you will be able to change it later.

Even for broadband + landline? I managed to get an account with email and account number. I can log in using my mobile phone number too.
