Just got FTTP and everything is working fine off the VF router. Phone lines are plugged into the VF router, VF router's WiFi is switched off. 3rd party Mesh has been switched to Bridge mode and plugged into the VF's ethernet port.
However I am shocked at how feature poor the VF router is. e.g. There are no Parental controls at all. I know I can get rid of the VF router and plug my own Mesh router into the Openreach ONT, but what about the Landline.
Are there any 3rd party routers in the market that have a telephone socket at the back to allow the home phone to be plugged in?

@Luciftian, and others - thank you so much for the post and info. It's helped me get this up and running on a Grandstream GXP1625 handset with an Asus RT-AC86U running Asuswrt-Merlin firmware on VF FTTP (via Openreach). A couple of the settings had different names and were buried under different menus. I also didn't need a static IP nor to forward any ports. This would have been impossible for me without the settings you provided though!
One comment: you set "Check SIP User ID for incoming INVITE: Yes" which, for me, stopped all incoming calls and being able to hear the external party on outbound calls. However, when I set "Accept Incoming SIP from Proxy Only" to "Yes" this fixes the incoming calls issue and (apparently) should stop spam/ghost VOIP calls disturbing me at 2am
Thanks again!

Hello all,
Started having strange issues, seems like some mobiles from certain networks like three are not able to call the number.
Anyone experienced similar issues?

Hey All,
Just doing some research whilst waiting for my CityFibre FTTP line to be installed (April '23) and wondered if anyone has connected any SIP phones directly, without using the Grandstream adapter?
I have an old Polycom IP 501 (Business phone) here which I'm contemplating having a play with, does anyone know any reasons why this wouldn't work? - My plan is to try and map across the settings which have been posted here, if I can work out the differences in terminology between Granstream & Polycom.
Guessing this will become more and more relevant as everyone moves over to IP in 2025 so I'm happy to learn now and post any results if it helps others too! - Can anyone recommend any other reading material / sites that may help?

Hey @chrisnasah, Is this calls to your landline number, or to your mobile? If it's via your landline, you'll need to reach out to our support team by calling 191 from your phone, or online via Live Chat.

Hello @chrisnasah, I just tried this myself. We have 3 different mobile network users in the household. When ringing my landline number from Vodafone and Lyca mobiles, no issues. But ringing from Three mobile, the automated female voice says the number cannot be recognised.

Yep, seems like same issue. Been trying to speak through chat support but it’s a pain honestly, keep getting moved around from one agent to another.
Been over an hour repeating same thing to everyone.

Does it work if you use the Vodafone router or do you encounter the same issue?

@chrisnasah I won't be able to test a 3 network until the weekend, but plusnet and o2 also get through without issue.
