Landline phone with own router on FTTP

Just got FTTP and everything is working fine off the VF router. Phone lines are plugged into the VF router, VF router's WiFi is switched off. 3rd party Mesh has been switched to Bridge mode and plugged into the VF's ethernet port.

However I am shocked at how feature poor the VF router is. e.g. There are no Parental controls at all. I know I can get rid of the VF router and plug my own Mesh router into the Openreach ONT, but what about the Landline.

Are there any 3rd party routers in the market that have a telephone socket at the back to allow the home phone to be plugged in?

I really doubt any ISP would give out a fixed WAN IP to normal punters. But with an always on FTTP, who knows.

Vodafone do, on FTTC or FTTP, just request it via live chat. https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/

Hi @bruce_miranda were you able to get this working with the HG812?

Since about the 8th of July, we have been having OpenReach fibre issues in the area seemingly related to the warm weather. So I didn't want to give Vodafone any excuse to blame my 3rd party equipment. Hence still using my Vodafone router at the moment.

I wonder if someone might be kind enough to help me get my config to work?

I used @Xjacko 's screenshots (based on @cf996 's info) to set up my HT812.

I can receive calls (with two-way audio) just fine, however, when I try to dial out, although I get a dial tone, when the number is entered I get a call engaged tone.

Here's the 'user' setup

And here's a link to the full config page: https://www.dropbox.com/s/e8bsp2l9cuq37yi/Screen%20Shot%202022-09-14%20at%2021.47.08.pdf?dl=0

Thanks!

I thought mine was working because I had tried ringing the phone from my mobile and it rang and could hear yourself speak also tried to ring back but never answered the call (do not want to give voda any unnecessary money :-))

The problem appears to be that if we answer the phone now when it rings it just kind of bleeps like and engaged tone and the end user still rings. Really though I had set my HT801 up correctly following the advice given but clearly missing something. Can if possible @cf996 check my config file when you get a minute or anyone else that has got this working.

For the "Use NAT IP" setting, you have provided your LAN IP. This needs to be the public IP assigned by Vodafone, ie the static IP they gave you if you requested one.

Sorry I meant to just blank it out (it is set as my static ip) so nothing else appears to be wrong in the config? and forward ports 5065 and 10000 to my internal ip of my ht801?

In addition to the NAT IP address being wrong, I don't know if it matters, but you have PCMU set as the first codec, I have PCMA.

Yes this matters. Well spotted.

I also have a solution for the mobile calling issue. Try setting "SIP User-Agent" to "Vox 3.0". This resolved the problem for my relative's account.

Thanks both presumably I type "Vox 3.0" in the blank section for the SIP User-Agent?
