Strange situation.recently changed to Vodafone fttc and for some reason they have ported my landline no to VoIP rather than use existing copper. Anyway I can call out from VoIP and if someone calls from a mobile the attached telephone rings as you would expect.so far so good. However when someone calls from a landline the phone does not ring even though the caller hears ringtone. help please

I've not heard of anyone on Vodafone FTTC getting a digital line. However, the problem you have is quite common with those on FTTP.

You will need to contact Vodafone to get it sorted.

It is strange I know. I can confirm we are on fttc as we don't have fibre available yet on this estate in fact openrech are only just checking pits etc with a view to running the fibre.  .I have never had this sort of problem in the past when incoming have simply continued to provide over copper. I will try and get UK support on Monday

Because OpenReach are shutting down their POTS (all-copper) phone network by 2025, there's a push for providers to move to use VoIP and just have a SoGEA (internet only) connection from OpenReach - I imagine most major providers would move you to this option when taking out a new contract today, and all providers over the next year or so should do, or would have to do so during your contract.

Is it an older landline phone you're using? The main reason I can think of for it not ringing is that the ringer circuit isn't designed for the age of the phone (it changed a long time ago) - Otherwise it may be a hardware issue with the router/adapter etc but who knows!

I am aware of what's happening with copper etc. Phone is modern and the fact that mobiles can call the number and the phone rings as expected means no problem with hardware. Suspect routing of voice calls is corruption only routing correctly from mobile operator prefixes and not 01nnn source numbers. I will post back as matters progress

Ahh, I completely misread that! For some reason I read it as the phone you were calling from was ringing but the VoIP phone wasn't at all 😂😂 It will be interesting to see what eventually happens with it
