Voicemail on fibre landline?

Can I get voicemail on my new vodaphone fibre landline? I am told it only works on copper. If so the new technology is worse than the old.

Hi, I’ve read that you can’t receive voicemails with VOIP. I’m getting it installed today and I’ve been reading up about it for weeks.

Actually, you can get Voicemail with VoIP, call barring and a lot more features that you couldn't get with a traditional POTs line too. However, it's Vodafone that's behind the times here.

Yes it’s annoying. I think you can get voicemail with BT fibre. Is it just Vodaphone that’s the problem?

Yes. Vodafone have a very basic digital landline service. Be warned, if your Vodafone Digital Voice profile isn't online and registered, anyone dialling your landline number is greeted with a period of silence followed by the pre-recorded message "Sorry it has not been possible to connect your call, please try again later.".

I have been working with and using VoIP since 2004 and even back then I had Voicemail, Caller Display, Call waiting, Three Way Calling, Call Hold, Call Transfer, BLF, Call Barring... I could go on!

While Vodafone provides me with a digital landline along side my FTTP service, I don't use it. I use Voipfone along side a Yealink W76P!

Is this the end of landlines for domestic use?

Hi @Dodrin Digital Voice doesn't work with Vodafone voicemail, I'm afraid. You can find everything you need to know hereYou can still use voicemail on phones that come with built-in answer machines.

I had assumed that moving to Vodaphone I would get better or at least as good as my previous landline options. I understand that with BR and others I would still be able to use voicemail on my land line. Does this mean that Vodaphone is just substandard? I need to know because I might change to another provider.
