Voip 'landline' after fttp installation

Hi, I am considering going to FTTP (as we all will have to eventually) from Vodafone FTTC. I understand I will need a converter cable (the one as recommended in other posts) to connect my DECT base to the WiFi Hub 2 router Tel socket. I understand that the "DECT to VOIP " conversion is handled by the Hub. I understand that the current 'landline' number should be transferred (if the sun is shinning).

Assuming that VF don't screw it all up what can I expect when conversion has taken place:

1/ Will I have a 'lelepnone' number that other people can call without any charge to me? (package or one-off)

2/ Will I have a telephone I can call other people on?

3/ Does anyone know the charges applicabe to UK VOIP calls (can't seem to find it on the VF website) and are packages available?

Firstly, if you have  DECT phone you should be able to use the redundant "internet" cable to connect it to the router, by replacing the BT cable. (a few may not ring if you do it that way)

Yes people can call you as normal.

Yes you can call out as normal. (but some services expected on landlines phones become unavailable. (the ones marked with an asterisk here: https://www.vodafone.co.uk/broadband/homephone)

Prices are, as far as I know, the same as landline calls. and I presume packages are also available. (I'm not on FTTP so can't be sure)

Hi I've just been through this but had an odd problem my BT Graphite phone displayed 'NO LINE' Vodafone Tech team tried everything but no line in the end they said everything was correct from their end try a different phone.

Luckily I had an old Onetel Sirrus 3000 in my basement, I dusted it off charged its battery, connected it & it worked OK!

Why my BT Graphite, which was working before converting to fibre no longer works I don't know!

Yes the Hub has internal VOIP conversion & now works fine with a normal landline phone using the cable marked internet supplied with the Hub.

I see no reason why your BT Graphite phone wouldn't work.

How did you connect it, did you remove it's BT style lead and use the "internet cable" same as with the other phone?

If so it's possible the configuration of the connectors in the RJ11 socket on back if the base are not using the same pins.

There are only 2 wires used, so it should be possible to visually check if they are both using the same pair. It's normally the centre pair used. See if the Graphite base is using those.

Yes, I used the internet white cable as specified in the installation setup I will check to see if the connections in the Graphite base are the same as the onetel Sirrus, thanks for your suggestion.
