Why have I been charged for a call that wasn't connected?

My landline is used for broadband and incoming calls only. But I will admit when I mislay my mobile I ring it from the landline to help me find it, obviously I don't answer the call. I've been doing this for close on 15 years. To my amazement this month I have been charged for 3 unconnected calls (32p each). Anyone got any ideas why this is? (TOBi didn't understand!) Thank you

Hi @LIZWILLOUGHBY20 Please message our team via the contact information found here and we'll check this for you.

The link is to TOBi which goes round in circles. Eventually I typed 'I want to speak to someone' and got an adviser.
The adviser said the charges were correct but I would re-funded. I asked if this was policy and s/he said yes and charges would apply to unconnected calls in future. Is this correct? I'm not aware of any policy change and the concept of charging for unconnected calls is unprecedented. Most users would not notice this change, charges would be buried in the list of calls made, a little underhand? I would appreciate your comments.

I'd ask any adviser who said that, to advise when the charge starts from? Dialling the call? The ringtone being generated by the destination switch?

See how much of a hole they can dig before they realise it's nonsense.

S/he did say they got my point and would escalate the matter but couldn't tell me how to follow this up. I may need to make a formal complaint...
