I bought a broadband package including landline and was very impressed with instore service.
When we came to connect there was a cable missing for the landline, after two visits to the shop we got the cable, but, it makes to difference, we have changed phones and turned everything on and off, but, still not dialing tone, we have tried ringing our number but no joy.
Comments and advice welcome!

As you speak of a cable for the phone, I assume you are on FTTP (full fibre). Normally you would use the standard BT type cable from the phone, but have an adapter at the router end. (such as one like this: rhinocables® RJ11 Plug to BT Socket with tail Telephone Adaptor White : Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & ...)
However Vodafone have a habit of not configuring the phone service correctly for FTTP, so probably whatever cable you are using will be correct.
