Internet Sharing with 5160 dongle

Hello everyone.

Does anyone know if the K5160 is capable of being used for Internet Connection Sharing ?

I have a PC that I plug my dongle into; it accesses the internet through the dongle OK.

I now want to plug other computers into THIS computer, using its LAN card. However, whenever I plug ANYTHING into the LAN card, the dongle seems to switch the 3G internet OFF, possibly assuming that the internet access is being supplied through the LAN card.

Note: I am NOT trying to create a WiFi hotspot or anything. Just share the K5160's inernet access using a PC as an intermediary between the dongle, and my wired LAN.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks for getting in touch @centralconveyor. I know that Internet Connection Sharing can share dial up, PPPoE and VPN connections; I'm really sorry I'm unsure if the dongle has this capability though.

Apologies I've not been of more help, keep your eye out on the Vodafone Community; there may be another user who's done this successfully before.

Thanks TJ.. I'll do that.

I've tried the dongle on three different computers, with the same result.

I phoned Vodafone helpdesk and their response was beyond comical. One of their 'technical support' people started talking about "input and output ports" on my ethernet card. The chap obviously doesn't have a CLUE how TCP/IP and ethernet actually works. (he was reffering to physical ports.. not TCP ports, by the way).
