Issue with mobile wifi hub

I have a mobile wifi hub r218h which I have used without any problems till recently . I use it in wales where there has always been a good signal . It now works intermittently, but what I have noticed is that when the Wi-Fi light on the hub is showing red or orange (meant to indicate a poor or no signal)  I can connect to the internet. When the light on the hub is green which is meant to be good signal my connection show no internet available.

I’ve been on to support who didn’t really understand what was happening and even visited a store who couldn’t really explain it.

Anyone else seen this type of issue or explain it

Anne

Hi @Anniebea156 Have you checked for any known issues in the area via our Network Status Checker here? We also have several device guides for solutions to common problems with this router, these can be found here. If you're continuing to face trouble, do let us know.

I am not in Wales just now but . I have been through all the trouble shooting with support. At the time there were no network issues in the area. The strange thing is that when there is full signal showing by a green light, it says there is no internet. The hub works fine in my current location in Cheshire .

Thank you for sharing. If you do continue to face trouble in this area, pop our team over a message via the contact information found here and we'll get things look into.

Thanks it’s happened more than once so isn’t an isolated incident. The fact it only works when the hub lights are showing poor or no signal is very strange.

Part of the problem is Vodafone staff saying that the network checker isn't showing an issue, so it's your device. But in reality, the network frequently has issues, that a jpeg of the network is never going to show.

The Network checker is possibly the biggest scam, followed by charging you from the day that you take out a new contract, and not the day that you actually receive and start using the device

Have you updated it, by signing in to the MiFi device ?

@mark-ellis What does the URL resolve to?

The router/MiFi device that you device is using to access the internet. Allows you to view and change settings, see usage, messages, etc.

That URL is specifically for Vodafone MiFis

@mark-ellis Thanks for the clarification. The URL works only as long as the base URL is not changed.
