Massive increase in lag when streaming Netflix

HI,

I have about 14Mbps connection which works generally OK until I stream Netflix and then, although Netflix is OK, then lag times for everything else go through the roof but bursts every few seconds. I assume this probably corresponds to the Netflix cache filling and draining but when the lag happens it breaks voip calls and online gaming.

My monitor shows the load cycle but it's nowhere near the max download speed:

running a test from fast.com gives a massive difference in lag between loaded and unloaded:

and an ookla test shows no variation of download speed during the test:

Is there anything that I can do to prevent the increase in lag?
