I ordered a dongle to get wifi because our broadband supplier cocked up our account and cut us off. The website said we have excellent coverage and should be able to get upto 50mbps download speed.
The 4G coverage is pathetic, nothing like the website, or help desk, stated it should be. I'm lucky to be getting 5mbps right now and I need a fast connection so that I can use zoom for work. I also checked my phone and 4g is never higher than 2 bars and quite often nil. It doesn't get any better outside the house either. I have attached a screenshot as proof.
Any ideas why my connection is so pathetic?

If you're checked via the Vodafone status-checker then that only gives an indication of signal but is not a guarantee. It says this on the page.
Signal can be affected by a few instances such as weather and the amount of people using the masts. i.e mast congestion.
Try soft rebooting the device by turning it Off and On.
