Morning all
While we are in a good 5g area (CR5 3EZ), supposedly our gigacube connects to the only mast that does not have it...go figure. We do get aggregated 4g (4g+) which has seen speeds typically running between 50-90 download and 40-70 upload...until last Friday. Since then, speeds have pretty much halved, meaning download 50 at best at 6am and dropping down to repeated buffering and restarting router each night.
I appreciate that the speeds are still not bad, but it is bad enough the gigacube will not ether to any 5g mast...the one I can see quite clearly from our house around 1k away...but to now have speed halved from where it has been for some considerable time is very tedious indeed.
I have checked network status and nothing showing up there. We have not changed router position, any settings etc so no idea why this has happened since last Friday (5th March). As you can see from the pic, the volatility in the download / upload is just nuts and that massive spike in download chart probably saved the average from being somewhat lower.
Any help much appreciated...waiting for the click this link to speak to tech people on Twitter!
Ta
Dan

That`s great to hear @dwizzo I`m sure we will get to the bottom of the issue and improve your connection, remember to pop a link to this thread so the advisor can see the template you have already filled in 😊

Hi All,
This is more of a technical question about service and performance.
I have a £30/month Unlimited SIM only package and have really benefited from this, given that I am very mobile.
The SIM is in a "Dongle"; it's actually an Alpha Tube-U GSM/LTE dongle and works exceptionally well (normally)!
I am based in Gloucestershire, and of late, during this hot weather we are having (lovely though it is), I have been experiencing extremely slow download speeds with umpteen dropouts along with Mb/s rates of far less than 1Mb/s - just now FAST.COM reported 380Kbps!. Usually I am up around and just under the 10Mbps limit.
Whilst I appreciate that 10Mb/s is max when using the package I am on, it's only in the past 3-4 days that I have had issues.
I am currently within 1 mile of a mast in Frampton-Upon-Severn and have been really suffering today (Tuesday 15-JUN-2021).
I have reset the dongle a number of times, and have ensured that the correct connection and APN information is present.
Rebooting / resetting tends to clear any issue, but within around 10 minutes of use, I am back to square one, having poor response and having to reset.
Could there be an issue with my account - or have there been any recent changes to the infrastructure?
Does heat materially affect comms, even though I am within a mile of a mast?
Any help to lok into this and to get better reliability / performance would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks
Kieron

Other than issues related to local equipment, heat should not have major effects on mobile data rates (this is the fixed broadband help area). It's unfortunate, but unless you are on a specialist data plan, even unlimited data usually does not come with a minimum guaranteed speed - sorry!

I really know very little about mobile broadband, but a question that comes to mind is, is you phone's download speeds affected at the same time.

Hey there @Cryasor 😊 I hope you're still enjoying the nice weather! I understand how important it is to have a stable connection, especially now. Could you help us out by completing our initial network checks please?
Also, I'm going to move your post to a more 'on topic' section of the forum to help with slow mobile data performance 👍
