Outgoing calls dropping after 29 minutes and 50 seconds

Hi there,

Since I upgraded my SIM only plan I've been having an issue with outgoing calls dropping at exactly 29 minutes and 50 seconds. There was no problem prior to the upgrade and I haven't changed phone. Does anyone know how to resolve this please? I have spent many, many hours chatting to VF support and tech support and it still remains unsolved. I'm basically paying for a service which I can only use in part. Any advice to resolve this would be most welcome!

Can you put the call on hold for a few seconds, then carry then with call.  This has worked for me with normal phone call.

Thanks very much. The workaround of putting the call on and off hold momentarily seems to work and extend the life of the call by more than 30 minutes.

Putting an EE Sim in the same phone on the same wifi passed the 29:50 call drop easily so it is specific to Vodafone. Telling me to complain to Google is ridiculous when other networks are fine.

This is clearly a Vodafone/Google problem which Vodafone need to resolve. Both the Pixel 6a and 7 Pro are currently sold by Vodafone and this problem has been around for years.

Why do Vodafone support claim that resetting wifi calling and then telling me to do a factory reset (refused) could clear the problem when the problem is built in? Why do users have to use the unoffered workaround whilst Vodafone fail to resolve the problem?

This has cost several failed technical support calls and the loss of many conversations with clients.

Is there a way to lodge an official technical failure report with Vodafone as it seems virtually impossible to speak to anyone.

Hi,

now resolved problem of phone cutting off after 30 minutes of call & this is to ask vodaphone to disconnect/ reconnect the phone. You will loose the use of the phone for a few hours, but once it’s reconnected- problem should be resolved.

This definitely works, thanks 👍🙂.

Hi Andy,

I have the same issue with Poco F4 GT 5G and Vodafone support wasn't able to solve the issue.

Hi Baysik, definitely your solution is working but it's rediculles to do this before every call. Vodafone doesn't have solution for this issue.

I believe the on and off hold workaround does work to some extent but it is ridiculous to have to do it. I now usually remember when on hold but do sometimes forget when talking and get cut off.

Vodafone refused to release me from a Sim only contract whilst they 'checked' my chopped calls. After a week they had no solution so finally got a PAC code to go to a network without this known problem such as EE. This has cost me many dropped calls, hours of wasted complaint time, new sim, wifi calling on/off several times and an unbelievable suggestion to do a factory reset when it is clearly a Vodafone network problem.

Why can they not be honest on technical support and tackle this problem? None of them even mentioned the the on/off hold workaround which could be part of a culture of problem denial. If they had taken my issue seriously and honestly, mentioned the workaround and demonstrated progress on resolution I might still be with Vodafone. No one ever said they had even tried to reproduce my problem which would be very easy. They never check whether your problem is resolved.

Sad to leave Vodafone with such a failure and appalling service having started with them some 27 years ago,

Hopefully you didn't switch to Three like I did nearly a year ago because of this. Because now they want to merge!! If they do and use Three systems it will be good for Voda customers you'll finally get your fix after 3 years!! If they don't and use Voda systems what's the bet I get the problem back.

Have exactly the same problem, it’s when I call landline numbers only.
it will cut off at approximately 30 minutes, other mobile numbers have been fine. Think it’s definitely something to with Vodaphone & not a fault on the phone .
