With software such as Activation Lock on iPhones people are not able to steal / find a phone and use it thankfully.
I'm not saying nothing is unbreakable with security but the person on the street won't have such tools to be able to do this.
I had my iPhone 4S pick pocketed a few years ago which was stressful
I have witnessed a female who was walking out of the train station whilst holding a telephone call on her mobile phone and a guy out of nowhere ran out at speed and gripped her phone and fled. It happened so fast she was still holding her empty hand near her ear ! I gave chase but wasn't fast enough to catch up.

Security is an illusion to a large extent. If someone wants to steal something of yours they are fully able to.
A few years ago I received an envelope at home. Inside it was a driving licence with my name address and birth date but not my photo and not my driving licence number. It was a very good fake and I hadn't lost my licence so who knows how they managed to get the fake put together. I took it to the police who frankly weren't that interested. It never went any further.
I will happily keep my licence in iOS's wallet app as I do with my debit card and a credit card for Apple Pay. In a few days I'm going to Paris for the French Tennis Open - guess where the tickets have been downloaded to. And Easyjet boarding passes can live in the same place.
The convenience of having everything in one place is also its downfall if we aren't vigilant. Each of us has to assess our own attitude to risk and act accordingly.

Whatever you do don't forget your charger, @jeffkinn :smileylol:
More seriously, given how much personal information is already likely to be on your phone, a driving licene probably doesn't compromise your identitiy that much more.

Taking a charger with you when you go away is one more aspect of modern life that we have to get used to. Fortunately it's now become second nature to me so I don't forget it. Also my iPhone has an extraordinary battery life so I don't worry about running out of battery. And she who must be obeyed will have her phone as well and now we are both using Apple products one charger works for both phones.

I still take two chargers, just in case one decides to get silly. Pessimist, moi?

I personally carry a battery case for my iPhone.
Just in case.

It's a balance of risk, isn't it? You could lose your wallet just as easily as your phone, but your wallet won't run out of battery or get a hissy fit and plain refuse to turn on.

Indeed. Having a copy rather than the original (especially if it's a copy that's legally acceptable) gives you the best of all worlds. I was thinking more of being stranded with a non-working phone and no payment cards.
