Thinking about going to Pro with 4G Backup but we use a static IP on our Business Broadband service. Is the same static IP maintained when the THG3000 fails over to 4G?

Hi @sangerm, thanks for your post, we don't believe that the Static IP address would remain in place when switching to the 4G back-up. If this is something that you do need, we would recommend requesting a call back from our business team who can advise on the options available. You can request the call back here 🙂

Thanks Mark - I thought it might be doubtful as it would require your broadband and mobile data networks to be essentially the same network.
Thanks

I have just done some investigation and it appears that the Static IP is used in our organisation as a security measure to ensure that users of a couple of apps are physically based in one location. However, there may be an option to register more than one IP address for the same location for validation. So, the supplementary question would be can a static IP be allocated to the 4G connection (ie tied to the sim) even if it is a different address to the static IP address allocated to the broadband?

It's a very good question and if your organisation needs the static address for security reasons, we understand why this is important. We would love for you to sign up to the broadband, however to give you all the information that you need, it doesn't look like there is an option for a static IP address when using the 4G back-up service.
