BT whole home with Vodafone router

Hi,

I've been using BT Whole home with 4 discs successfully for a number of years and with numerous broadband providers.  However, I'm getting problems for the first time with the discs connected to our new Vodafone router.  It is most noticeable on our Android phones where apps report the internet is offline, even though Chrome web browsing works at the same time. Disconnecting and reconnecting the phone's WiFi immediately resolves the issue.

I was going to use a different router but that's not possible according to Vodafone because we now have a VoIP landline. An older Vodafone router worked just fine when we last used them around 4 years ago.

Any ideas?

Recent problems with apps have proved to be due to IPv6 settings in the router, so try disabling that under Settings - Local Network. Jayach_0-1700771853436.png

@ctracey_uk  A quick search of the forum reveals that the BT discs may not work with the VF router. Not all BT discs are the same (as with any other hardware there are versions) but you may be stuck. Have a look at the other forum threads for details.

Thanks @Jayach, that seems to have done the trick. Out of curiosity, do you know if this going to be fixed?

Yes, I'm sure it will.

Vodafone have only just started trialling IPv6, and new users are getting it first, but they don't seem to have got it right yet.

Hi - I've gotten to this point but my Settings tab only displays Password and LED Settings - any idea how I get the same view as the screenshot?

Just realised I needed to go on Expert Mode... doh!

I had this exact same problem as I also use BT Whole Home Wifi discs for my Wifi instead of the Wifi from the Vodafone router. I did a bit of a deep dive and discovered it was specifically the IPv6 being enabled on the Wifi-2 section of the router that causes the issue with Android, even if you aren't using the router Wifi or the Wifi-2 network. It appears to be a routing error within the router itself. I wrote up my findings on https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Other-broadband-queries/Possible-IPV6-bug-in-Vodafone-Wifi-hub-that-...

That's a great piece of discovery and write up, @VodMatt . Thanks! You've saved me a weekend of frustration and trying to figure out why some andriod apps are fine and some (eventually) aren't.
