CUPID Code Request

Wardy555

Similar to many others that have posted regarding this, such as within this thread I'm attempting to obtain the CUPID code associated with my landline held with Vodafone.

I need to port this number, due to a house move out of area, so I'm trying to get it ported to a VOIP provider, Sipgate. No team or individual I've spoken to seems able to assist, nor knows what a CUPID code is. Despite me pointing them to OFCOM's information regarding them.

I've tried to contact an apparent 'GNP' team who should be able to assist, but they won't reply to emails and are only available via this method - not by phone or web chat. Is there anyone via forum methods that can look up the required information for me???

Thanks for the links.

SipGate can port from Vodafone... if your number doesn't list against Vodafone's 007 CUPID code.

Which, I imagine, are most of the recent customers. The rest being people who were part of a past takeover.

But it would be nice if someone from Vodafone could confirm that.

Exactly! I moved this number from BT to Vodafone in 2018, so I was wondering the same thing.

Just confirmation of what the position is, would be excellent....

Hey @Wardy555, after a bit of digging I can confirm that the Communications Provider Identity we've provided is the correct number 007. You can view the list on the OFCOM website here too. I've also found this information on the inbound number services we offer. If you've had an issue with porting your number it could be that you need a subsequent port. Other common reason can also be viewed here, I'd recommend that you take a look at this as well. You can also find the contact information for the relevant team at the bottom of this PDF

Thank-you. If only I'd been provided with such information, when I first asked Vodafone about this in January!

I can understand your hesitation about doing this @Wardy555, it sounds like this has been harder than it needs to be. As this is unique to your account and number, we'd be unable to discuss this matter publicly. When you reach out to us via either Facebook or Twitter, you can avoid repeating yourself by including a link to this thread and your Community user name.

I'm in the same position and have been given an email that starts with "gnporting".

Did you get your code in the end and how did you get it ?

Edit: I was a "new" customer to Vodafone around 3 years ago so I imagine I'll have 007 which means I can't port to sipgate ? What a mess !

Hi!

A little late but here is the answer for anyone that needs this in the future.

It seems that advisors don’t have access to the CUPID codes, it can be retrieved from Openreach. However, it does have to be the agent that call openreach (I heard they don’t just give it to you as a customer - I believe due to GDPR??)

If you give them a ring and get through to the easy switch / hbb technical teams and tell them to call open reach - they will be able to get the code for you.
