Connecting Alexa to One Number service

I started a  Vodafone One Number Connectivity Plan this week. I wanted to a) be able to call 999 via my several home Alexas if I had an accident  and b)  have my Alexas announce and notify me of an  incoming call on my Vodafone mobile phone even if I had left the phone somewhere out of earshot in another room.  The website and the operator assure me these are possible

However, neither of these things are happening. I have spent hours on Vodaphone online chat and on 191 but got no-where.  Can anyone help please ?

( I have always been able to make and receive calls via the Alexa even before I used Vodafone, so that is not the problem )

I didn't know anything about the one number service, and after reading about I'm still not sure how it works, but maybe you can understand it.

OneNumber For Alexa by Vodafone

It says "Our OneNumber Connectivity Plans allow you to share your Vodafone airtime and data allowances across multiple devices, so you can stay connected to our network on your smartwatch, tablet or Alexa device without WiFi or your phone nearby."

How the hell you can get Alexa to do anything without Wi-Fi is a mystery to be,

The bits I am after are here. How Vodaphone do it is their business but, they say they can do both the things I want and I have agreed to pay £7 per month for.

1.Make and receive calls, even if you’re away from your phone

Think of a OneNumber Connectivity Plan with Alexa as a voice-activated extension of your mobile phone. You won’t even need to be in the same room as your mobile phone to make calls. Even better, when someone calls you, your Alexa device will ring and announce whose calling.

2. What does Alexa do in an emergency?
What does Alexa do in an emergency?

Alexa is able to make calls to the emergency services at any time, even if she’s in Away Mode, unless there is an internet or power outage.

You can say ‘Alexa, call 999’ or and she’ll make the emergency call. If you can’t say anything else - or get disconnected – don’t panic, she’ll automatically dispatch the requested services to your Vodafone registered address.

.@Quilter This is/has been discussed in the Services / Pay Monthly section of this website. You may have more luck there than in this Broadband section.

@Cynric

I thought this was the wrong place, but I couldn't find somewhere better, to point the OP to.

Thanks. I’ve just looked at the post there and the OP is having problems with connecting a smart watch. There’s several YouTube videos on how to do that but nothing useful on how to connect an Alexa. I will try 191 again tomorrow but VF did promise to contact me.

Vodafone One pulls in multiple services.  I assume the extra £7 per month is because the service is shared across multiple mobile devices.  It might sound contradictory, but you can have VF One even on just a single mobile device and while it can get a bit messy multiple users can use VF One on individual accounts and each link to the same Alexa devices.

Okay so it's set up a little differently here, as I only want the Alexa services when I'm actually here, but set-up is usually a complete doddle!  Additional cost with the setup here is £zero!

It actually gets better, because you can still have MS Phone Link set up in parallel so you can make/receive calls from a PC instead and it all still works seamlessly!
