Connecting a removable hdd to Vodafone router

So I’m trying to have a home cloud storage that’s accessible through my home broadband and can access files and save files to. Got a 4tb removable hdd sandisk plugged into the usb on my Vodafone router. Powers on and according to the Vodafone broadband network map it recognises there’s a hdd Attached but can’t find it on my laptop or any device. I’ve connected to the router and looked at the limited settings it’s says share is on. Really can’t figure out on the windows side of things what I need to do. Help??

Is the usb hdd formatted? This needs doing before it's connected, and I've found ntfs to be good with this router.

Right click on 'my pc' or whatever you've called it and 'add network drive'.

I have already enabled the smb1 client within windows features for another device so I'm not sure if this is actually needed with the hub, bug worth trying.

Yes brand new hdd which I have done a standard format on. I have ticked the smb1 thing. When trying to map the drive I do \\192.169.1.1\shared\ doesn’t find it. Not on browse either. The network path cannot be found

Have also tried a pen drive and that didn’t work either

Pen drives will usually work, but even then you'll have the most success with smaller drives formatted to exFAT or FAT32!  Beyond that, you start needing to look at drives that don't consume much current or have external power, and the larger the drive the less likely the drive is to work!

Tried multiple pen drives different makes which don’t work. As for the external hdd has a power supply

Try taking a look at my post here: Solved: Re: Latest black router USB file share - Community home (vodafone.co.uk) , see if it helps.

Thanks but your post was one of my first things I read and still not finding it

Format the drive/USB stick with NTFS. Copy the path from the sharing tab.

Then paste it into the Run command (Windows key + r)

Does the drive contents now show?

Edit: I'm not sure you'll be able to share it to the Net, but the first step will be getting it shared locally.

You should be able to share it as a Network drive or via a drive letter.(or both)

And I don't have SMB1 on.
