FTTP availability

Hello,

Openreach notified me in December that I can now get FTTP at my premises. Originally only a couple of specialist ISPs would provide FTTP internet services to my address but now that has changed.

I've checked with a number of ISPs now including BT, EE and Sky who now will provide FTTP services to my property.

Anytime I use the GigaFast availability checker on the Vodafone website it redirects me to the superfast availability page instead and says I can only get 73.6mbps down and 18mbps up.

How long does is normally take for Vodafone to update the availability checker? I want to take advantage of the current 500mbps for the price of 200mbps sale that is due to expire in January.

We can only give you the information we have available to us @flipside The team that work directly with Openreach and manage the Pro packages is the WiFi Xperts team. They can run a premise check on your home and they might be able to give you a little more information regarding the FTTP set up in your area.

As of right now though, you have the same information that we do which is that there is still some more work that we need to do on our side to complete the FTTP set up and there isn't currently an estimated completion date for this.

I genuinely am sorry for the frustration this will cause, if I had a more specific answer I would absolutely give it to you as no one likes to be in the dark. The best thing to do is give the WiFi Xperts team a call and see what they advise after a premise check is done.

@steph I just rang 191 and the wifi xpert team passed messages to me visa the poor person who picked up my call, the response was ' if its not available Voda do not supply it in your area and are unlikely to'. No reasons etc where given.

The service I have had in general from Voda has been great but this astounds me and has confirmed that the only option for me and anyone else in a similar position is to leave

Thank you for giving them a call and for updating me on what they said @flipside I genuinely am very sorry for the experience you've had. I can certainly appreciate why you would be looking to leave though I do hope you choose to remain with us!

I will keep searching for some more specific answers for you and if I receive any new information I will of course let you know.

I've got exactly the same experience, FTTP recently rolled out to my area, multiple vendors (BT, TalkTalk, Zen etc.) can offer it via Openreach, but Vodafone seem not to be able to. It's definitely an issue at your end.  I spoke to an agent on your web chat who couldn't help, however he gave me a number to your full fibre team, I called them and they couldn't help either.

What's strange is presumably your marketing team puts on deals to win new customers but you're losing potential customers because they can't sign up with you.  You're not capitalising on the money you've spent in marketing.

Another one here with a slight twist on the issue. We are an Openreach FTTP area (have been for over 2 years now). All other providers are actually available (BT (my current one), Sky, TalkTalk, Zen, etc.)

Last week I was able to place an order via FTTP with Vodafone. Unfortunately the order got cancelled as it clashed with another order. The other order got cancelled but then I was told that it's not possible to re-order as it now only shows the standard non-FTTP packages! I was informed that if I wanted to join Vodafone, they would install a new to be made obsolete line to my house (in 2025) to accomodate the package. Completely ridiculous.

As of today, I cannot see the FTTP packages anymore via the availability checker for my address.

However, curiously, I decided to check my neighbours in the immediate area (next door both sides and opposite)  and they are showing the full range of packages with FTTP available to order.

I just spent an hour on the phone to Vodafone and no-one there either can be bothered to look into this or can see the problem. It's like all they are doing is that 'computer says no' so that's it. Went through to some technical person in India who told me that it's because CityFibre aren't available - even when I told them that we are in an Openreach area. It's like they just don't understand the issue.

What is the reason why this is happening? I'm not living way out in the sticks where my neighbours are miles away from me either, my next door neighbour's front door is less than 5m from my front door.

Vodafone needs to get this fixed. They must be losing so much custom because of this. I will be going elsewhere. If it's so hard to sign up and get nowhere, I can only imagine the nightmare it must be if I ever have any issues.

As of today, it's now showing the full range of packages once again including FTTP availble for my house. Nothing to communicate this to me from any of the advisors that I spoke to (several) - I just happened to check today on the off chance since I had a Vodafone page open on my browser.

Unfortunately, I've gone elsewhere and joined another provider already.

Vodafone needs to get its act together.

It seems that the rollout may not be rapid despite being advertised on teh openreach site - https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2020/08/isp-vodafone-uk-unveil-openreach-fttp-home-broadband-p...
