False positives on blocking

I'm getting a ridiculous number of false positives, mainly on sportswear retail sites. I will run out of whitelist slots soon. Is there an easy way to get these reviewed and corrected?

@tsr2 Is the blocking happening on both wired and WiFi devices? Have you tried changing the DNS settings? Have you looked at the router logs? What sites are affected?

Hi @tsr2. To help and support, could you please elaborate and provide more information on how we can help?

If I knew how you could help, I probably wouldn't need to ask, but some ideas.
Is there a tool that tells me why they are blocked? I'm guessing they are misclassified.
Similarly, is there a form to report these for reclassification? I'm not sure I have the strength to repeat my last failure to report this to Vodafone.

I assume that Vodafone won't be bothered to put in the effort to find the root cause of why I need to whitelist so many sites and that asking them to allow us to whitelist more is going to be a lost cause.

I don't have any wired devices to compare. As whitelisting sites in content controls allows me to access them I think it's clear that it's an issue with content controls and I haven't really dug into DNS and router logs.

Affected sites include

  • icewear.is
  • orcasportswear.com
  • justsheepskin.com
  • hkjewellery.co.uk
  • gaborshoes.co.uk
  • fdxsports.co.uk
  • endurasport.com

@tsr2

What do you think is blocking these sites? Do you suspect Vodafone's content controls?

How are you whitelisting them?

I believe they are being blocked by Vodafone content controls. The issues started when I turned content controls on and I whitelist the sites in the content controls.

After investigating these sites, hosts, servers and dns I have to ask, do you really trust these sites enough to buy anything from them? I certainly wouldn't.

Or are you working on behalf of these sites, attempting to get them through content controls?

Really!
I have bought from a number of them, my wife has bought from others. FDX and Endura are reputable cycling wear brands. Harriet Kelsall Jewellery is highly reputable. OK, I don't know much about Orca Sportswear or Icewear, either than that they came up highly ranked in searches for wet suits.

So yes, I or my wife have bought from most of those sites and no, I am not working for anyone on this.

If these dodgy sites are blocked by vodafone's security then that's good. If you need to access them change to the Cloudflare DNS as they all use Cloudflare nameservers. Leave the rest of vodafone's clients with a safe Internet.
