IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST

The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/contact-us/index.htm

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/

FTTC SETTING         ( FTTP is below FTTC)

The setting is the same for all the routers it's down to the isp (the setting page will be laid out differently but the setting are still the same, eg

Vodafone setting are

Vlan ID - 101

enable 802.1q (not on every router)

Username  - ******@broadband.vodafone.co.uk

Username - ******@businessbroadband.vodafone.co.uk  ( for business customers )

Password - ********

PPPoE

MTU Size : 1492

rest of the setting auto detect when the router and the dslam are negotiating with each other

TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 AC1200 Wireless MU-MIMO Dual Band (1st Advanced tab, change the Operation Mode to Wireless Router Mode (the ONT is acting as a modem, hence it will not work if you are in DLS Modem Router Mode). 2nd  Do not enable VLAN ID or it will not work! Vodafone will tell you to set it to 101, if you do this it will not work! Keep the default MTU size (1480), do not change it to 1492, as suggested in several posts in this thread, or it will not work!.

Asus DSL-N16 connecting fine using the above details. Not sure if it's a faulty modem or some setting but I have poor performance with it. Doesn't really care about download speed is like 60-70% I have with the Vodafone Hub but from time to time I'm getting like 10%  of my minimum download speed.

Again the Asus DSL-N16 is a seriously old (launched in 2010) modem/router.  If you buy one on eBay and it's shipped in from abroad the odds are it'll be the wrong spec and hence slower.  It will also generally run with a higher target SNR and hence a lower speed than modern modem/routers (including VF's own).  To cap it all off (if you'll excuse the pun), the RT-N16, and I would assume the DSL variant, has a tendency to blow capacitors over time!

Even the old VF HHG2500 is probably a better bet than the DSL-N16 (and that's from an Asus fanboi)!

Thanks for the input, its from Amazon, sold and fulfilled by themselves. Uk plug. But I return it ans spent some extra on the tplink ac1200, don't want to spend a whole lot more.

Hi everyone.

Can you please help me to set up my router it is ASUS DSLAC68U. I have log in user name and password. I have read that thread and tried multiples settings that was mentioned here  but had no luck. I have updated router to lates software.
Please can anyone help me with it. Thank you

From what I have read Asus are not compatible with Vodafone and don’t work well anyway.

I wouldn’t spend any more time trying to get it to work because I don’t think you will.

Here are the brands that Vodafone recommended on live chat with me in June 2021:-

Openreach approved routers - some of the routers are Netgear, TP-link, D-link, Cisco, Zyxel and Draytek. You can get the latest router of these brands.

I personally recommend the Netgear D6400-100UKS ADSL & VDSL router with Ethernet + dual band AC1600 Wifi  + beamforming. It works extremely well and is very easy to setup. You can even select Vodafone from the list of ISPs. As of June 2021 it is still available new from Ebuyer (direct or ebay shop) whilst stocks last. Netgear updated the firmware in May 2021. On plugging it in I immediately got 48.3mbps down, I only got 46.3mbps on the Vodafone WiFi Hub. It’s a smart looking router and is far more compact than the Vodafone.

The settings are the same for all routers, it's down to the ISP (the settings page will be laid out differently). e.g. Vodafone setting are:-

Vlan ID = 101

802.1p = 0

802.1q = enable (not on every router)

Username  = dsl********@broadband.vodafone.co.uk

Password = ********

PPPoE

MTU Size = 1492

Gigafast Internet LAN - IPTV (optional)

VID = 911

PRIO = 0

Other settings as above.

The rest of the settings auto detect when the router and the dslam are negotiating with each other.

That’s sad. I bough it specifically  to replace Vodafone one and create a mesh network with AI MESH ROUTER from ASUS that I currently have.

You can use any make of router with any make of Mesh network. They don't need to be the same. I use 3 x Apple Airports to create a kind of Mesh network. My router is Netgear. In the future I'll replace the Apple Airports with a true Mesh system but I'll be keeping the Netgear router. You still need a separate router because the Mesh systems have no DSL socket for the line, only a WAN Ethernet socket.

This is what I am getting every time when trying to set it up.

I can't see it yet. It says "Image to be moderated". It would be better if you included a link to an image hosting site.
