IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST

The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/contact-us/index.htm

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/

FTTC SETTING         ( FTTP is below FTTC)

The setting is the same for all the routers it's down to the isp (the setting page will be laid out differently but the setting are still the same, eg

Vodafone setting are

Vlan ID - 101

enable 802.1q (not on every router)

Username  - ******@broadband.vodafone.co.uk

Username - ******@businessbroadband.vodafone.co.uk  ( for business customers )

Password - ********

PPPoE

MTU Size : 1492

rest of the setting auto detect when the router and the dslam are negotiating with each other

TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 AC1200 Wireless MU-MIMO Dual Band (1st Advanced tab, change the Operation Mode to Wireless Router Mode (the ONT is acting as a modem, hence it will not work if you are in DLS Modem Router Mode). 2nd  Do not enable VLAN ID or it will not work! Vodafone will tell you to set it to 101, if you do this it will not work! Keep the default MTU size (1480), do not change it to 1492, as suggested in several posts in this thread, or it will not work!.

OK, once I finish my exam I'll have a try then 😘

I’m not as technically  clued up as you. However I’ve a Voda hub connected to the wall and fiber line withe the WiFi off.
the via a cat cable I’ve a  ASUS RT-AX82U and AX92U meshed for WiFi coverage.

Works perfectly fine for my needs. I’ve  lots of WiFi devices for me, kids and mum in an annexe (hence the mesh) no issues with speeds for sky and downloads.

im past my hardcore online gaming day's! But I’ve had no issues in steam or playing Diablo 4 elite dangerous every now and them.
point being I’m sure I lose some speed in that set up. But it didn’t require any setting or contact with vodaphone, I still have the land lien, none ever uses!
but I originally set this up on virgin as I think my WiFi heavy home was stressing the provider router capacity,  so the ASUs upgrade helped that issue.

Last time I tried the Vodafone router along with my Asus there was no effect on the overall speeds, though it did add a couple of milliseconds to the latency. YMMV

Netgear Nighthawk RAXE500 working perfectly, great bit of kit this, only had to put username and password in, lost the landline but not bothered we don't use it.

Bonus tip for me was I named the WiFi and set the same password as the Vodafone router no need to adjust all the devices.

I think it's worth noting that with some routers you can export settings into a text/json file rather than all the effort of typing it all in again. If moving from one router to another and both have these text exports then editing one with the details of the other may be much quicker. Also some have a ssh interface and there are things you can do there that you cannot do with the browser interface.

I'm in the process of switching from Shell to Vodafone. The new Vodafone Power Hub has arrived, and I've plugged it all in in anticipation of it being activated on Wednesday. It is an FTTC connection with RJ11 cable connecting to it from the phone socket.

I currently have the Shell router in modem mode, and it is plugged into an Asus RT-AX53U router, which everything in the house connects to.

It seems like there is no option to put the Power Hub into modem mode. However, the Asus RT-AX53U doesn't have an RJ11 input, so it relies on using the provided router in modem mode. Does this mean that my Asus routers are now unusable, or is there a way around this? Thank you.

I'm having trouble connecting my Asus router to Vodafone BB

1  Router settings are as below.   I also set VLAN = 101 for Openreach.

2  I have asked Vodafone for the login details twice.   The second answer was different to the first.   I believe they didn't even get the format of the login ID right first time, as there was no @ symbol.

The router display says "Disconnected".   The WAN cable is connected.   I tried typing in a deliberately incorrect password and the status still said "Disconnected".
My Internet continues to work when I revert to the Vodafone router.

What am I doing wrong ?

What asus is it?

For cityfibre (black ONT) fttp the VLAN is 911. For openreach (white ONT) fttp VLAN isn't used at all so disable it.

Username has 9 numeric characters, password is 8 characters.

If you are on Vodafone FTTP (Full Fibre) the VLAND ID 911.  That worked for my Asus.
Best idea will be to call Vodafone Support and get their tech support to help you in realtime.

I have Openreach FTTP, with Vodafone. I have tried VLAN 101, 911 and without.    Neither solution works.

My router is an Asus GT-AX6000

The settings they set me also include the following, which I cannot even find in the router menu:

VPI input = 0
VCI input = 38
Set Encapsulation/protocol = PPPoA or PPP over ATM
Set Framing/multiplexing = Type in: VC-based or VC-MUX (may have a name of PPPoa VC-MUX in some routers)

Set Modulation = Choose Multimode or Auto Specific modes will be either G.dmt/ITU G992.1 (ADSL1) or ITU G992.5 (ADSL2+)
