I have Orbi RBK50 mesh system, can I put my Vodafone Modem into passthrough mode

I have problem with dropout on my Orbi mesh system and the suggestion on their community is as follows:

"You are correct that it is better to have only a single "router".  What a lot of people do is contact the ISP support desk and ask them to put the Vodaphone in "bridge" or "passthrough" mode so that it is no longer routing (and also no longer broadcasting WiFi)."

Has anyone tried this? Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

There is no bridge mode with the Vodafone modem/router but you can switch off the wifi and set your Orbi up in Access Point mode.  I believe this is your only option if you wish to use the Vodafone modem/router as your gateway.

Alternatively, having spent out on the Orbi kit, you could buy a modem and connect your Orbi kit as a mesh router.  I did this with my mesh kit - a Draytek Vigor 130 VDSL modem which wotks straight out of the box.  If you go down this route, you will need to obtain your Vodafone username and password and enter them into the PPPoE setting on your primary Orbi.

Since retiring the Vodafone device (kept for if I ever need Vodafone support) in favour of modem and mesh I have had a year of uninterrupted and fast uptime.
