Need to keep resetting Asus Router

Hi all,

So I managed to get my Asus AX88U router all setup and working. The annoying thing is that at the bare minimum, I'm having to reset the router once per day. The internet light goes red so I push the reset button on the back. Once it's loaded up it'll work perfectly until the following day when I have to reset it again.

Is there a fix for this? I've set the Vodafone router back up in the meantime as I can't be bothered with the hassle of the internet going off every day.

Off the top of my head I don't know the WAN Lease duration.  However, if you have your syslog set up to show everything (I don't anymore - it seems pointless) you could look for the PPPoE or PADI messages.

*I think we are roughly the same track with the possible reason!

So it just went off again and this is what is in the system log. I have no idea what any of it means.

It doesn't happen at certain times, its completely random. I can be out and I know it'll go off because i'll get a notification that the doorbell is offline.

What ntp server(s) have you set up? Where did this router come from?

Have you tried without the disk connected?

Ignore the crond message, it's normal for a reboot as the router has no real time clock.

I haven't done anything other than connect the Asus router. I've had this router since new for 2 years and it worked perfectly with VM.

I also have an RT-AX88U and it's working fine with vodafone. Have you factory reset the router since moving to Vodafone?

pretty sure I did, but I've just done it again to make sure.

Now I've set the new WiFi up via the Asus router but the previous Asus WiFi I set up is still discoverable and I think my unifi ap is still pinging that.

So what are you using the Unifi app for???

@CrimsonLiar

I wonder if @L8N meant access point, rather than app?

yeah it's my access point.

I've managed to factory reset it all and it's all on the same network now.

I'm now getting authentication error on some devices whilst others are connected fine. Wondering if this is now a router/network issue rather than Vodafone.
