Hi is it possible to use the 6E ultra hub as a router with a virgin media super hub 4, assuming the super hub is put into modem only mode and connected to the Vodafone router's WAN port?

I very much doubt this is going to work correctly! If the VF router is likely to still attempt to log into the VF "Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol" (CHAP) servers, and when it fails, it'll most likely just go into a loop.
Be aware that Vodafone's equipment is VERY locked down, such that if you need to perform certain tasks you have to call customer services to attempt the settings for you - obviously that will be a problem too!
One telling observation is the lack of third-party, independent reviews gushing about the hardware - there aren't any!!! Oh, and the router you are looking at was almost certainly the property of Vodafone and not the person who VF had loaned it to!

Are you just trying to run the virgin router as a switch. ( dint know much about the virgin hub )
My setup . Internet is connected to my Vodafone router. My Vodafone router is connected to a second router using the lan port . And then the second router is connected to a third router using the lan ports. And I think my lad said the other day he has connected a 8 port switch in his room as every thing in the house is hardwired on cat 6

Three layers? I don't think that I have seen that outside of a commercial deployment.

If you include power-line adapters acting as switches I think you only hit "uncommon" at about 4 levels deep!
