Thanks. Unfortunately that is too big for the small space where it has to fit. Can I use my existing Shell/Talktalk router in its place?

There is the option for you to be able to use a third-party router in place of a Vodafone supplied router, but they're usually from the Open Reach Approved Router List, and not an existing internet service provider. In addition to this, if we ever needed to complete any troubleshooting with you, it would need to be from the Vodafone provided router.

The openreach approved router list is over a decade out of date, so it's unfair to fall back on that.
The fact is most of the up to date routers available today are compatible, all they need is a WAN connection that supports PPPoE (and vlanid for cityfibre connections). It's pretty hard to find a router that wouldn't work.

So if I chose to use an approved router, instead of the Vodafone Hub, Vodafone would supply me with the necessary information to set up the phone line, yes?

The information which we supply is the username and password to be able to connect up a third-party router to our network, @dejjones. Our digital voice service is designed to work with Vodafone supplied routers, so we cannot provide any guarantees regarding that.

I understand "no guarantees" but you will supply the necessary digital voice info, yes?
i.e. the SIP password ,username, URI, outbound proxy and registrar server.
