Solution

Pro 2 Broadband router problems

We had been happily using pro broadband FTTH on a 500m service on the old black box router and boosters.

our contract expired and the cost was greater than the cost of 900m so we switched.

This started the chain of problems. A new router (Ultra -huge white speaker like item) arrived and we were forced into using it and not keeping the old one.

Now a number of appliances will not connect as I can neither have a 2.4ghz network or amend the channel number on the 5ghz network to allow devices such as Ring 4 doorbell and 2 Ring security camera lights to connect.

I have tried using a guest WiFi but this seems to be broadcast at 5mhz also.

The devices cannot see the 5ghz network but my mobile device has full signal in the same location.

I know the devices work as I can hotspot to them and they are fine, so I know it’s router related.

Iphone app doesn’t allow me to change anything because of Super WiFi so I’m essentially stuck.

Do I need to cancel and move my broadband whilst still in cooling off period or is there a sensible suggestion to resolve the issues?

As further information I am using all 3 VF boosters to get coverage around the house.  None of the Ring devices would connect to these though as they are all within 5m through a single brick wall from the main router

I’ve found a solution to the issue.

I managed to procure the older black router I initially had.

All setup and working at 100% with zero issues.

I’m super comfortable to say that the Ultra Hub is the product causing all the issues I had with the product and the online customer service is just as bad.

That was exactly what I thought when you posted it earlier.

Hi. If you have no use for the Ultra Hub, can I please buy it? Many thanks.

Sorry I can't sell it at the end of my contract I have to send it back as far as I know it's not mine to sell,

I'm now using a TP-Link AXE75

No set up or connection problems

The ultra hub just isn't compatible to 2.4ghz which is crazy. I've tried a new router just for smart devices at 2.4 connected to the hub, but now find all devices unreliable. Is yours still working?

This is exactly what I have been told there is a fundamental problem with the router and all you get is fobbed off by the idiots at Vodafone they don't give you fixes only work rounds only had my hub for a few weeks and want out lots of calls, there are 1000s of products out there that only connect to 2.4 GMz oh get your phone and walk away from your from your router with your phone untill it drops out of 5GMz into 2.4 so now I'm out in the garden cold and wet trying to set something up it's laughable rubbish if you don't have the hub don't get one until Vodafone FIX the problems

You shouldn't have to move your hub anywhere it's a problem with the HUB NOT the ring doorbell I had the same problem how I got round it Netgear WiFi 6 WiFi extender connect straight into your router no turning off compatibility mode then contact doorbell 30 seconds to connect no more compatibility mode

I have the same problem as you I'm just out of my 14 day the system isn't fully backward compatible the way I got round this is by adding a Netgear WiFi 6 extender it adds to the Mikey Mouse pro 11 without doing anything the ring doorbell 4 will add in second a long with anything els you want to add, my ultra hub 11 is going in the best place for it the BIN hope this hels

What did you find wasn’t backward compatible please?

TP Link power strips brand new out the box connected through the Kasa app will connect to the Hub for 10 to 15 minutes then kicks them off line set up again same thing so I bought a second one just to see if the first power strip was faulty same thing not only kicks them off line but they drop out the Kasa app so connected them through the Guest WiFi they work perfectly no drop out no problems. Had load of problems setting things up to the hub loads of phone calls been on the phone for over two hours you don't get fixes only work arounds only had the hub for 5 maybe 6 weeks if that had enough it's going as a consumer I'm not putting up with it
