Re-contract

Hi

i am about to enter the last month of my Gigafast Contract.

Virgin are also now in the area offering Gb speeds

There is a fantastic deal on just now with VF that I would like to take up but there is an “early upgrade” charge.

is there not an option of just recontracting given it’s a month to go.

I like the service with VF and don’t want to leave. But I don’t want to miss the deal

thanks

I've upgraded twice now with vf, both times around 14-18 months into my contracts and I've never heard of this "early upgrade" charge. You do get the honour of paying a pro-rata charge on the first bill but I'm sure this has nothing to do with early upgrade.

Have you just phoned up, or have you tried using the My Vodafone app as I did?

thanks for your reply

i was on the phone to a very pleasant lad. That was his words to me. Last time round I managed no problem to upgrade / recontract

I tried via web but said to call. Not via app - will try app if it works for Broadband only customers

I'd also try phoning them again. Maybe you'll speak to someone who knows what they're doing.

The early upgrade charge sounds like an old cliché from my mobile phone days.

I did find it odd. Going through web and app I get same message I can’t upgrade online and to call them

That does ring a bell. The way around that (for me) was to chat with an agent on TOBI. The link below will take you there bypassing the artificial unintelligence and the bot will ask a few account relevant questions before passing you to a live agent.

I really should recommend this method more often.

Am on chat right now. Says same and £26.98 early fee

is it because am 33 days to end of contract I wonder

Who knows. I've never experienced that. I wonder if anyone else has a suggestion(?).

You could hold out for a while to see if that charge will drop, and risk some downtime, or you could pre-emptively ring up and cancel your broadband on the end date of your contract and jump ship.

Too late to edit but I do know that some notice is needed else the contract will roll-over and you'll have to pay the pay monthly fee for continued broadband. I'm not 100% but I believe it's 28 days.
