Ultra Hub Rebooting

Hi,

I've recently received my Ultra Hub router and have been having consistent connection drops every couple of hours.

I think I've narrowed down the issue but I'm hoping someone can sanity check what I'm seeing:

  • Every couple of hours the internet drops
  • The router flashes blue, then flashes red, then goes solid white
  • During this time all my devices disconnect from the wifi completely and need to wait for a few minutes before the access point reappears.
  • In the local status checker the status page shows the hub has rebooted with a reason of "power". (Obviously I haven't rebooted it myself)

This leads me to believe that the hub is crashing and the issue is nothing to do with my internet connection at all. My connection is perfect in-between these drops.

Has anyone seen anything similar? Or can suggest any other things I can look at to confirm the issue? Vodafone support have had me restart everything and swap out cables but nothing is fixing the issue.

Thanks in advance!

I take it they haven't fixed this yet. Swapped from BT to Vodafone 3 weeks ago. The Ultra hub reboots every day without fail at no set time. With BT i had no problems at all. Logs below:

DROP wan in: IN=pppoe-wan OUT= MAC= src=35.244.195.33 DST=193.237.143.45 LEN=125 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=125 ID=2873 PROTO=TCP SPT=443 DPT=55352 WINDOW=254 RES=0x00 ACK PSH URGP=0 MARK=0x8000000

@addyrazz The lines starting "DROP" has nothing to do with the rebooting, it is the firewall blocking an unsolicited connection attempt. The "Address family not supported by protocol" looks like it is an IPv6 error, so try turning off IPv6 in the router. The bits with "[lua]" are part of the log of the session manager dealing with the connection between your router and the VF gateway.

Next time you paste parts of the log please, for your own security, delete the IP address immediately after "src=".

What steps have you taken to try to resolve this so far?

Apart from rebooting the hub and the open reach modem, there isn't much choice on the configuration options. I notice ipv6 doesn't connect, does Vodafone enabled for ipv6? I will turn this off and test

Thanks for the support

@addyrazz VF have had issues with IPv6, it seems to work sometimes.

Do you know what these mean, there are 2 every second:

2024/06/18 09:01:44 [error] 12835#0: *21 [lua] sessionmgr.lua:262: redirectIfNotAuthorized(): Unauthorized request

One of these every 30 seconds:

Failed to send to ff02::1%guest@br-guest (Invalid argument)

Every second or so:

[i1905][tlv] failed forging TLV_TYPE_SUPPORTED_FREQ_BAND

@addyrazz "TLV_TYPE_SUPPORTED_FREQ_BAND" is an Access Point message, do you have any APs?

"Failed to send to ff02::1%guest@br-guest (Invalid argument)" is IPv6

"[lua] sessionmgr.lua:262: redirectIfNotAuthorized(): Unauthorized request" without the context it is either something trying to connect to your LAN or part of the handshake with VF.

It's time to speak to VF, there's something not quite right. The FTTP ONT, the link is below to help you identify it and say which of the lights are active.

Thanks for your support.

I have no APs also what's interesting is the IPv6 error message and IPv6 is now switched off, should be interesting speaking to support once you get past the firewall of people who dont know what they are talking about

@addyrazz You may have missed an IPv6 setting in the router.

@addyrazz Which ONT and Router lights are active?

Oh sorry in advance, I'm going to ask a really dumb question, here goes; you have connected the WAN router port to the ONT?

@Cynric yes WAN is connected to the ONT

Lights below

Power: green

LOS: no light

PON: Green

Lan: Green
