Ultra hub and booster pairing + missing stuff on vodafone broadband app

Hi I am fortunate enough that my friend who is with vodafone had an ultra hub and wasn't using it along with a super wifi plus booster and had given it to me.

I was a little skeptical as I am on a normal standard plan (non pro) but I've set the hub this morning and all is well but I cannot get the booster to work at all. Not sure if its compatibility issues as the booster is not the 6E booster that comes originally with the ultra hub or if boosters are tied with contract type. I see the super wifi tile and follow the instructions although the lights it is referring to are different on this booster (I only see amber and green lights). As I understand, since I have the super wifi plus (alexa), I'm suppose to see a tile for super wifi + ?

Also, how do I get the sync speeds tile to show up again as that has totally disappeared from the app menu

Edit: Is there anywhere I could see be it on the gui router web or broadband app to see if the router is connected to x number?? But I am 100% on our home phone ringing whenever I call from my mobile phone

No I don't believe you can see the phone number anywhere but in your account.

I'm surprised the Ultra router is using your phone number, as a recent post where someone else was using an Ultra router they borrowed it kept the original customers number.

Can't find the thread at the moment, if I do find it I'll link it here.

Found it. Solved: Re: THG3000 wifi performance - Community home (vodafone.co.uk)

So I've tested:

Put back my THG3000 router and the sync speed tile on the app is now showing up. No super wifi or super wifi plus showing up so that pretty certain configs are tied to contract type and/or they push certain firmware updates to the router to enable these settings.

And despite not having the super wifi tiles to try and connect the super wifi plus alexa, i've managed to connect it manually via wps pairing and two new wifi names have popped up with the names vodafone9Exxxx assuming its 2Ghz and 5Ghz. But I have no idea the password for these. Guess its a dead end as I'd be able to configure these settings through the broadband app

And I've once again tried to connect the booster to the ultra hub via manually wps pairing and they do pair (green light etc) but this time, I do not see the 2 wifi names, so can't do anything with it really. Perhaps if I borrow my friends 6E booster and see if that would work as the super wifi tile is specifically for the 6E booster that comes with the ultra hub whereas I'd need the super wifi plus tile which I think comes with the old pro bundle contract type that uses TGH3000 and previous booster. So its a mix of compatibility and firmware update which needs to be pushed by Vodafone I guess.

I missed that when you first posted.

Is it not possible that as you used WPS, it is then using the same SSID and password as the main router, which is really how an extender should work?

If you use a Wi-Fi analyser, you should be able to see if that is what is happening, as the two devices will show separately, even though they have the same SSID.

If your were thinking of using the Alexa feature of the booster, you would have been out of luck, it's apparently being withdrawn.

I may actually go back to using the THG3000. I've noticed from my thinkbroadband graph that my minimum latency when using the Ultra hub is sporadic (first image) whereas the THG3000 has a consistent lows of 8? (second image) never going up or down. Any clue why that is? I'd love to use the ultra hub but knowing the older router gives me that consistent ping/latency, especially when I gameultra hubultra hubthg3000thg3000

That is really interesting, but I certainly can't explain it.

I might postulate that the Ultra hub may not be giving priority to replying to the pings, but that would simply be a guess. It's obvious that the increased delay isn't over the internet, so I don't think it will influence your game play.

It would be interesting if anyone else with the Ultra hub sees the same thing.

However, I do see what you're saying. It's not about the peaks, but rather the minimum ping variance (in green).

Clearly, also on the thg3000 there is also a lot less jitter and well as the better minimum.

Going by these results the thg3000 is the better of the two with regards Latency, but for sure it's not all about Latency.
