Greetings,
I live in a new build house with a full fibre connection and I go live with a Vodafone FTTP service imminently with a digital voice landline.
I have the Vodafone router ready to plug in to the OpenReach ONT but as it's all positioned in a cupboard I'm concerned about WiFi coverage. So concerned that I paid extra to have ethernet ports fitted upstairs and downstairs. So if there is a coverage problem I can retro fit wireless access points. Previously I've used Ubiquiti WAPs which are excellent but now I'm looking at Mercusys or Deco MESH whole house WiFi systems which get good reviews.
However my concern is that reviews say that the performance of these systems are adversely affected if you don't use the manufacturers router. But if I check the Vodafone FAQs it says that I can't use a different router to Vodafone's because I have a digital voice landline.
So bearing in mind that I will never use my digital voice landline, and won't even plug a phone into the socket, is it ok to switch to a non-Vodafone router to get the full benefit of a MESH system?
I'm aware that Vodafone do offer a Pro II Full Fibre option with a 6E ultra hub and boosters so that's also a consideration.
So any answers/feedback/suggestions etc would be much appreciated.
In the meantime happy new year 🙂

If you have no intention of using the digital phone service, the fact it only (easily) works on the Vodafone routers will be no problem to you.
