This doesn’t happen very often, but I’m extremely surprised that this Vodafone box doesn’t automatically reconnect the broadband when it gets dropped. This is going to be terribly inconvenient if I go away in the summer.
There doesn’t appear to be any way of changing this behaviour in the router’s of settings.
Any suggestions?

I have no reason to believe mine wouldn't reconnect if the DSL dropped, in fact it has definately done so in the past.. Are you possibly on FTTP?

Thanks. No definitely not on FFTP. Could it be the box is duff?

So if you take the DSL cable out, and then reconnect it, the router doesn't recover, after going though it's self tests?
I'll try it with mine now. (be back soon)

Well the DSL recovered very quickly, much quicker than if it had been powered off.
It got a new I.P. address (unsurprisingly) but it came back no problem.

yes mine also re established the BB connection after I unplugged the phone line and reconnected it.
the I’m experiencing must be some other issue with the router

Well that's strange, after about 10 minutes the router rebooted, and took longer coming back, but eventually it came back, but the LEDs are all off. I'd seen that once before, so I'm sure a factory reset will cure it. Maybe try a factory reset yourself.
