Since I got Vodafone broadband my WD NAS storage doesn't show up in the Vodafone Router.
The ethernet lights are amber for left and amber blinking on the right meaning I have a 1000Mbps connection.
But when I go to the router to check the IP address of the NAS storage, there is no IP for the NAS on the LAN connection.
Quite weird.
Help.

How do I setup the direct SMB on the router?

@JoseAlmeida Could you confirm which router it is that you are using please? VF have some different models in current use.

Does anyone knows where to download the WD Anywhere Access sw so I can reset the users passwords?

@JoseAlmeida I'd suggest www.westerndigital.com but it's down at the moment.

@JoseAlmeida Parts of the WD empire are back online. The anywhere software is here and I hope it still is when you get to read this;

You asked, "Anyway if changing that config made my NAS availabe with direct connection to my computer, then is there a setting in the Vodafone router to activate SMB so that the router can recognise the NAS?", I'm not quite sure I understand your question. The router doesn't need any SMB setting, the SMB settings in the router are for its USB ports. The NAS offers-up network sharing services by itself.

@JoseAlmeida wrote:yeah I did, but on Windows 10/11 SMB1 and SMB2 are gone, this WD need it to discover the disk, so connecting directly to the disk wont work unless I get an old version of windows.
Glad you have got it working, it's only SMB1 that is not enabled by default on Windows 10/11.
Not sure why changing from Virgin to Vodafone affected that.

It may be a coincidence as I moved to win 11 the same time.
Anyway thank you for the support.

@Cynric
" there are good open source programs for Windows that will probe the lan "
I've always used "Fing" on windows. If you are Linux flavoured "nmap" is pretty neat.
