Hi, I have a pile of devices that connect via wifi and I don't want to reenter the password on all of them (its a major pita).
My plan was, buy a new router, set the skid and pass to match the old network and voila...
But THG3000 has stupid password complexity requirement. I have a password with many bits of entropy that just happens to have no numerals.
All ideas welcome:-)

So what stopped you going with this plan?

I did. I replaced the old BT router with the Vodafone router. Unfortunately my previous wifi password had no numerals...

Basically no. Even if you could get round the password requirements. No option for flashing any firmware either.
Save the hassle, get your own router.

Thanks Ripshod, looks like I'll have to do that. I've been reading the "ask for username / pass" use-your-own-router threads but it's slightly overwhelming. Is there a consensus on the best or least convoluted solution to go with? What are you currently using?

...actually, rather than asking you what router to get I should ask you for a compatibility checklist - ie when doom scrolling Amazon trying to pick something, what are the configs / features etc I need to ensure best compatibility with Voda connection?

All you need is a router that'll make a connection over PPPoE, which is roughly 99.9% of them.
Getting PPPoE login details from vodafone is pretty easy. A lot easier that getting the digital voice info.

@lrdj For those sleepless nights ...
it may help to start at the last page and work towards the front.

The only thing I would add is maybe to start looking at future-proofing your network, so you are not in a similar situation in a few years time. Maybe a router where you can set up the old weaker un/pass on a guest network, and a stronger combo as the main network.
And I think multiple people reading this will feel your pain!

If aren't too sure about getting a 3rd party router working, a possible other option is to just get a wireless access point, and use that to replace the Vodafone routers Wi-Fi. You may even be able to use whatever router you have been using up till now, and configure it to work in access point mode. That way you wouldn't loose access the the telephone service, if that is important to you.
Who was your previous ISP, and what router did you have?
