What is "VDF7111"?

Hi All

Had 910 Full Fibre installed last week and am really impressed. The speed is certainly a game-changer and the router and the mesh satellite thingy seem very robust.

Now that I've been up and running for a week, it's given me an opportunity to look a bit deeper into the router and its workings. I'm by no means an expert in these things, and have a question that's been bugging me since I connected everything to the network.

Under the hood, the router shows a list of everything that's connected to my local network. After a bit of detective work, I managed to confirm that everything connected is what I would expect - EXCEPT TWO 'devices'.

I can see that I have two mysterious devices, both called 'VDF7111' with different ip addresses, and have no idea what they are. I've no reason to think that anyone has piggy-backed onto my network and the letter 'V' in the name suggests that it's related Vodafone (well, that's my theory). Can anyone confirm what these are, and they're 'friendly'?

Hi Cynric. Cheers for the quick reply. That's interesting and I follow your logic. I'm using the Super WhiFi hub and  I have three Extenders (it's a big property!) but only TWO VDF7111 showing on the network. The third was added today, so does it take a while to show?

Sorry @SteveP-UK I am not using that equipment. We will have to see if someone else appears.

You can confirm it yourself by powering the extenders down and rebooting the router. A lot of routers struggle with network mapping. Could one of your extenders be connected to another instead of the router? 

OWA7111VDF is indeed the model number of the current vf extenders.

Cheers Guys. I took another look. Actually the THIRD extender was being identified with a different name 'WPS Access Point', so I think I have my 'three' devices. A further check with 'Fing' shows them all as '7111' devices.
